Why present with STEMCAP?
- Education for Youth-in-Custody reduces the probability of recidivism and increases the probability of post-release employment. The presence of scientists who can experientially present the content, process, sense of purpose, and joy of the science enterprise can inspire and motivate youth.
- STEMCAP programming is designed to fuel creativity and to inspire youth who have complex and diverse backgrounds. We encourage artists’ involvement to help youth see that there are multiple and valid ways of understanding and communicating about the world.
What does presenting with STEMCAP involve?
Presenters meet with STEMCAP staff for one hour to develop a presentation suited to Youth-in-Custody facilities. Presentations should be 40-60 minutes long. We encourage hands-on elements. For more information:
